If you haven't had the chance to check out the Khan Academy website, I encourage you to take a trip over there. Among the many good educational resources online, I've found it to be the best especially when it comes to math instruction. I used it often for the math classes I've been taking, because I have found Sal Khan's explanations to be clear and thorough. He also does a fine job of getting at the deeper meaning behind math concepts as opposed to surface level memorization. For example, in one video he actually walks you through the proof of the Law of Cosines. The formula is relatively easy to memorize and apply, but understanding from where it comes makes it easier to know when to apply it.
Khan Academy has so many videos covering different areas of knowledge, and, last year, they also introduced some covering the college applications process. One video I particularly like is "You Can Learn Anything". It's a well-done motivational video on the importance of belief in oneself and persistence in striving toward a goal. I started showing it to my freshmen last year, and it seemed to set a nice tone for our introductory meeting. If I'm lucky, maybe a couple of them took it to heart and applied it when they ran in to some challenging concepts in their classes.
